Do you or a loved one have a Brain Injury?
mTBI:Looking for someone to help you understand all of the changes you've noticed in yourself or your loved one who has sustained a traumatic brain injury? Are you having a hard time finding hope in what is yet to come because the changes since the time of injury feel like setbacks? Are doctors telling you that what you're experiencing is normal or telling you this is what you can now expect--yet it is far less than you want for yourself?
Sometimes it helps to speak with someone who is an expert in how all of the changes are impacting you or your loved one psychologically. I can help you understand why these changes have occurred and help suggest some adaptations that may make the new normal more hopeful. Together we will determine what you want to accomplish in counseling, set specific goals, create the path for healing, and move forward. Even if you haven't been told you have a cognitive disorder, if you are noticing changes in memory, organization, energy, or are doing things more slowly than previously--you may have a cognitive processing issue that needs assistance to improve. Your brain may just not be processing as quickly as previously, leaving you in a struggle to find words, and many other symptoms. For more information, click here. |

Who do I help?
I work with individuals who have post-traumatic stress disorder, post-concussive disorder, or impact on cognitive skills related to a brain injury, cancer, neurological disorders, and other causes related to the functioning of the brain.
Car accident victims are also a large population of my client base. The effects of the accident may have caused not only a concussion, but also some PTSD at times coupled with anxiety and depression as well. |
But what can be done?
Emotional issues are addressed as well as the changes you may have noticed in your daily life since injury. Through educating both you and your family, everyone is able to better understand what has happened in terms of the everyday functioning, as well as learn new ways to deal with the challenges.
